Okta
What it covers
- Identity and directory
- Authentication and MFA
- Single sign-on
- Access policy
- Lifecycle around identity
- Device signals as context
Okta owns identity and access. A Workplace Operations Graph owns the operational context around it — devices, ownership, provenance, procurement, contracts, policy and evidence. The two are complementary, not competing.
Okta
Okta answers who someone is and what they can access.
Lojycal
Lojycal answers what operationally hangs off that person.
Okta
Lojycal — Workplace Operations Graph
Same person, same question — two systems that own different parts of the answer.
Who is this person?
Can they authenticate?
What can they access?
Which device do they use?
Who owns the device?
Where did the asset come from?
Which procurement order created it?
Which contract / financial record relates to it?
Which policy governs it?
What operational workflow follows an event?
What evidence does the entire chain create?
Okta is the identity layer: directory, authentication, SSO, MFA and access policy. For those questions it is the right authority — and Lojycal does not try to replace it.
The moment the question leaves the identity object, the answer stops. Who owns this person's laptop, which order it came from, which contract and cost centre it sits against, which policy governs it, and what evidence that whole chain produces — those are operational records, not identity attributes.
Connect the two and Okta becomes an input to the operational graph: a joiner, mover or leaver event in the IdP triggers the operational chain — device assignment, licence reclaim, contract linkage, policy check and an auditable trail across the whole sequence.
Lojycal doesn't need to replace Okta. It can sit around the operational context that Okta doesn't attempt to own.
